What is Volume Spike?

A state in which volume has increased sharply compared with normal. A spike by itself does not indicate direction; it only shows that attention has gathered. It therefore carries meaning only when read together with the direction of the candle it occurred on. It is checked as a multiple of the average of the past several days, and the multiple used as a threshold differs by instrument.
