How to read this screen
- The fear & greed index is a summary of sentiment
A 0-100 figure combining volatility, volume and social mentions. It is a thermometer of the current mood, not a price forecast. - It only means much at the extremes
The 40-60 band carries almost no information. It is only worth a look at extreme fear (24 or below) or extreme greed (75 or above). - An extreme is not itself a reversal
Extreme fear can last for weeks. Do not take the opposite side based on the index alone — read it together with the price structure. - We score this indicator as well
When it enters an extreme, we automatically record the actual direction 7 days later. The scoring method is on the verification page.
