Volume: Candles First, Volume as Support

Volume is only a supporting indicator

• The main basis for judgment is always the candle (price structure) — new highs and lows, trending candles, and reversal types come first, and volume merely helps that interpretation

• Crypto in particular is spread across many exchanges, so volume is not gathered in one place and is easy to manipulate (wash trading) — crypto volume is not a reliable indicator

In a market with weak volume

• Interpretation based on volume breaks down — in such a market, conclusions are not drawn from volume

• Judgment rests on candle structure, and volume is kept in a supporting position: a reference when available, ignored when not

Connection to our data

• The MarketSurfer spotlight score has the same philosophy — multi-timeframe alignment (candle structure) is the core of the scoring, and volume is a bonus/penalty item

Where people slip

• They conclude 'a real breakout because volume exploded' on volume alone — in crypto, the volume figure itself may be hard to trust

Candles are read first. Volume is a supporting piece of evidence added after the candle interpretation is in place.

Have you entered on a volume surge alone and found it was a false breakout? What did the candle structure look like then?

Check it against live prices

Check symbols whose volume is far above normal.
