What is R-multiple?

Statistics

R-multiple

Profit or loss expressed as a multiple of the distance to the stop loss, which is defined as 1R. Because the gap between the entry price and the stop price is 1R, 2R means the trade earned twice that gap. Price units and volatility differ from one instrument to another, so monetary profit and loss cannot be compared directly, but converting to R puts them on the same scale. Keeping records in R makes it possible to add up cumulative results on one scale.
