"OKX record" rows = OKX perpetual trades of $100K or more from before you opened this page (bot record · since 11/2 17:39 · latest 200 trades). Smaller trades and trades before the record began are not included.

Actual Binance perpetual futures trades. Green = market buy, red = market sell, bold = $250K or more.

BTC 5 minutes after large trades

Taking each trade of $100K or more as the reference price, the farthest the order-book mid price moved up and down in the next 5 minutes.

Of 177 trades older than 5 minutes, the move in the trade direction was larger in 102 · the opposite move was larger in 75

23 large trades are younger than 5 minutes and will be filled in as time passes.

Based on the order-book mid price sampled every minute, so within the minute that contains the trade only the minute-end value counts. This records what happened after past trades; it does not mean the same will repeat.

How to read the chartbright bands · tags · × · dots · candles
  • Bright band — prices with thick resting orders (walls). Bands above the price are sell orders, below are buy orders. Colour shows only the amount, not the side — brighter is larger
  • What the color means — Color is a relative value within this recording, not an absolute amount. The same brightness can be a different amount for another coin or recording period. A bright line only says many orders are resting there; it does not mean price will stop there. Check amounts on the color scale inside the chart
  • Tags — at the right edge: price, amount and age of the thickest sell and buy orders now. Age is the number of consecutive minutes at least half of the current amount was seen at that price — minutes when that price was outside the recorded range are skipped rather than counted as a break, and the summary says how many. Amounts are approximated from colour intensity
  • × — where a large order vanished without a fill (cancelled). Teal = a buy order was pulled · red = a sell order was pulled. Off by default; turn it on under Settings
  • Dots — actual forced liquidations (red = longs force-sold · teal = shorts force-bought). Same rule as ×: teal is the buying side, red the selling side. Off by default; turn on under Settings
  • Bar — candles built from the order-book mid price (not trades). Each candle's length follows the time range shown

Spotting fake walls with ×

Some orders show a wall, then get pulled as price approaches. In the order book alone they look like real walls, but an × is left where they vanished.

10110099Ask wallpulled as price nearedbuy wall — stays30 min agoAt
Concept diagram (not real data) — the upper wall was pulled as price approached, leaving an ×; the lower wall stayed.
  • If × marks keep appearing at one price, walls there are hard to trust.
  • An × right next to the candles was pulled as price approached; one far away may just be a moved order.

Who pulled it and why cannot be known, and the × does not indicate price direction.

Bitfinex margin longs and shorts

Bitfinex publishes the total long and short positions opened with borrowed margin. Many traders follow this long-running data, so it is available here as an expandable section.

You are seeing only the latest hour of Bitcoin. Subscribing (Lite included) opens the full 4 hours, Ethereum and the top markets by trading value (altcoins and commodities), same-size evenly spaced order groups, orders posted together at the same moment, and same-size orders posted again and again. See plans

The viewing range widens with your plan. Paid members get the full 4 hours (1-minute columns), 12-hour and 24-hour views from Lite, and 3-day and 7-day views from Standard. Views of 12 hours or more are averages per time column, only for Bitcoin and Ethereum, and liquidation dots, large trades and footprints are not in the averaged data. Altcoins and commodities go up to 4 hours.

Resting orders can be cancelled at any time. A thick cell does not mean price will stop there — whether a marked group actually stopped price is scored separately.
