What is Lookahead Bias?

Statistics

Lookahead Bias

An error in which information that could not yet have been known at the time of the test gets mixed into the calculation. Typical cases are using a close before it is confirmed or using data that was later revised as it now stands. It is the most common cause of unrealistically good results, so check whether only values actually knowable at each point in time were used.
